I focus on restlessness and low mood. The kind that gets in the way of everything: your relationships, your work, your ability to just enjoy a normal day. My method is simple. We take whatever feels tangled and overwhelming, and we break it into pieces small enough to actually deal with. That's not dumbing it down. That's respecting the problem enough to approach it properly.
Communication matters to me. A lot of the difficulties people bring to our sessions come down to not being able to say what they need, or not knowing what they need in the first place. We'll work on that. We'll also look at the stories you tell yourself about who you are and what you're capable of, because those stories drive more of your life than you'd think.
I set goals with people, concrete ones, and I hold you to them. Not in a harsh way, but in a way that says I take your progress seriously. I'll give you things to think about on your own time, and I'll expect you to be upfront with me about what's working and what isn't. This is a team effort.
Whether you're struggling with difficult past experiences, feeling disconnected from the people around you, or just wanting to feel more in control of your own life, those are conversations I'm well suited for. I don't do pep talks. What I do is help you look at your situation clearly, figure out what's actually within your power to change, and then do the work. It's not glamorous, but it works.
